Looking for the BEST Nursing Review Center…

January 24th, 2009 by Dianne Peña

HELP???!!!

Right now, I am confused as to where will I review for the nursing licensure exam. There are a lot of review centers out there and I can’t seem to find where is the best for me. I even tried to search at the web and read forums about the review centers. As far as the questioning and answering… The very common answers are:

1. SRG (Sultan Review Group) – most of our reviewers for our NCM 105 came from there.
2. Pentagon
3. Gapuz

I am undecided, I told myself that I will decide after I passed our Audit (NCM 105) because one of my philosophy in life is “Just cross the bridge when you get there…” but my mom said I better make for reservation now before it run out of slots for “one of the best” nursing review center. She suggested that I should review at GAPUZ because she already tried their services when she reviewed for the nursing licensure exam. I say, “Ma, that was a long time ago, you were few back then…”. Nevertheless, I am weighing between GAPUZ and PENTAGON…

I need help….

I need to decide now before I can’t decide anymore because there is no choice…

Any great suggestions???

It will be very welcomed…

THANK YOU Sooooo MUCH!!!

Hmmm, You should try inquiring to these review centers at kung cnu ang pnkamabola dun ka! joke lang! haha!..

Consider the Passing Rate, the Lecturers, and the content that will be taught over the whole review sessions..

    TC Dianne! hehe!

  2. earle Says:

try NARRI… though i am also undecided atm between narri and penta… however here are my views with regards to penta, srg and gapuz with their respective prices set aside…

kung gusto mo ng lecture type, srg and penta… kung gusto mo ng test taking, narri or gapuz…

    srg vs penta

srg – adv: most of the lecturers are feu grads, some of their bests have proven their worth sa audit… will adjust their sched according sa feu sched… moderate number of crowd… mas malamang marami ang magreview na taga-feu dito kaya mas malamang hindi ka op… marami sa mga tinanong ko kung bakit sila dun ang sabi “kasi aalagaan ka nila rito”
disadv: some of their bests have already proven their worth where at some point convinced me not to enroll in this review center… magulo ang sched nila… minsan wala… minsan meron… minsan may sched pa “daw” na 2-10… may mga nagsabi rin from previous batches na “sana nagpenta na lang ako”

penta – adv: 2 of their lecturers have already shown their capabilities… as in halimaw ung dalawang un… mr jimenez saka mr valdez… c mr valdez nagdiscuss ng mga sakit na usually dinidiscuss ng 4 hrs within 10-20min lang each!! (mamaw!)… c mr jimenez, nagdiscuss ng drugs… todo effort xia, with matching acting at iyak iyak pa… had a high passing rate…
disadv: large number of crowd… probably more or less 1000 per class…

    my vote: penta

    gapuz vs narri

    gapuz – wala maxiado info,
adv: high passing rate, their books have proven their author’s worth, more on test taking
disadv: HIGHLY controversial, no one knows how the hell they took (and will take) their questions

narri – adv: few number of crowd, nasa 50 or less per class… highly individualized, inaaus nila ung sked mo depende sa sked mo at sa gusto mo, imaginin mo b nman, 3 o limang tao ang trabaho, taga aus lang ng sked… students are highly supervised… more on test taking… high passing rate… offers “continuity” after the board exams n wala ung ibang centers… there would be team bldg, seminars, adventures, medical missions, etc… high passing rate…

that’s it… i hope these infos would help you decide..

  3. Jeric Says:

    Try mo Gapuz ateng! HUHLOLZZZZ

  4. rjay Says:

ako i was satisfied with SRG. although, bago pa sila nun i trusted them and had no regrets.

sa final coaching ako talaga natuto… for 15 days todo aral at sagot ng mga questions. aside from that, masaya dahil at home ka, lecturers have their own way of keeping our attention, pati students.. before our afternoon session would start, intermission muna. i just dont know kung ganito pa rin sa ngayon.

Pentagon is good din. as well as NARRI kay Maam Honey.

i suggest u enroll in review centers na may lecturers from FEU kasi im sure hindi ka pababayaan. and you’ll be proud i tell you.

  5. aleathiel Says:

I have the same problem earlier this year but I’ve decided to enroll sa penta na. Sir Valdez didn’t have to put in loads of jokes to get the attention of the crowd at intindi mo talaga. At to that na nadisappoint ako sa performance ng some of the SRG’s “bigatin”. I don’t know if I expected too much or what.

Go to wherever you feel like going. The four centers you mentioned are equally good with their own pros and cons. In the end of the day tayo din talaga ang magpapasa sa sarili naten kasi tayo ang magrereview, magtatake ng test at tayo ang papasa.

Goodluck to us IN Batch 2009!

P.S. Kudos for the site! Go tamaraws! :)

  6. john Says:

why don’t u try R.U.N., review university for nurses at p.u.p. hasmin hostel in sta. mesa? i reviewed there kasi ini-recommend ng kapatid ko at ng tita ko. all pass kami at take 1 lang.

  7. earle Says:

yeah… i heard of run just this week from my ci… he highly recommends it… sila raw ang nagprovide ng reviewers for up and plm…

  8. tedi Says:

i recently passed the june 2008 board exam..sa gapuz ako… actually nakisama lang ata ako sa frnd ko kaya dun ako ngreview pero no regrets naman kse ok tlg xa. ang galing nila sa test taking strategies and if mkpgpareserve ka ng mas maaga ul get a sked na para sakin eh stress free. ang sked ko nun was 1030 am-330pm lang. xempre nmn kse u cnt rely everything sa review center.andun nlng cla para i-enhance ang knowledge m at mgbgy ng tips sa test taking strategies. so di ako ganun npgod sa review and ngkron pako ng time para mgbasa sa house. ayaw m nmn cguro umwi everyday ng wala ng ka-energy energy. and bnabasa k nga lang nun eh yung buk n sir ray. ung abcs of passing and it really helped me a lot on the day of the exam. final coaching nila ang galing din. magagaling lecturers nila. super! and nging prof ko sa review c sir ray…ang galing nya! super! maiisip m nlng na sana nging gnun kagaling mga prof mo kse d way he delivers his lectures… ibang klase. tlgang papasok sa utak mo ang mareretain.

it’s up to you pdn naman…ano bang type m. kse may review centers na super mdme kayo sa isang rum… like a thousand. it depends tlg kung ano hanap m and yung learning strategies mo. for sure may isang review center na mgfifit sa mga kailangan m :D

i highly recommend PENTA. though malaki ung crowd, am soo sure maabsorb mo lahat ng infos. and nasa sayo un, ul gonna love psych and ms if u go to penta.

  12. makoy Says:

any review center will do.. asa student na yan.. in-hauz namin ang penta ryt now.. magagaling cla lalo na c sir valdez.. pero sa iba ko magrereview.. we’ll see if i can make it to the top..

  24. gi_yun Says:

wag ka mag-RUN! sayang pera mo dun.. oh, how i hate them!

super late magbigay ng mga notes at most of the time wala pa..
then magulo ang sked.. minsan wala minsan meron.

    so ano lesson?

    patience and hard-work tlga kailngan

** am still searching for a nice review center na magmomotivate sakin.
un ang kailangan ko motivation to work hard. haha

im thinking either one of these :
    CARL BALita
    GapuZ
    PentagOn
    SRG

  25. GAILA Says:

    Just some thoughts:
Pentagon– they’re good. but the problem is,,sa sobrang dami ng students nila,, aside from the lectures,, hindi ka maalagaan. And the final coaching,, its just a show. Nawawala ung essence ng review.
SRG– not that good. Kung makikita mo ung reviewers,, they’re just full of personalities. But their problem is,, hindi updated. Final coaching,,same with Pentagon, just a show.
CARL Balita– libro lang ang maganda.

Seems like you have not heard of MERGE Review?
I tried two of these review centers but none of them helped me passed. Ito ang masasabi ko sa MERGE:
    1. Very strict sa time. Lectures are 8am-5pm..(or longer)
    2. When you say longest, 520 review hours is the LONGEST
    3. Program is based on student’s capacity
    4. Scranton sheets are used in ALL exams kaya nappractice ka sa shading na sya lang kinakabagsak ng iba
    5. Most of the reviewers are proven Board Topnotchers..kakaloka..gagaling nila..
    6. Ma’am Tapnio, the best lecturer of FEU is a reviewer of MERGE
    7. Partner ng MERGE ang URC kaya pagdating sa final coaching ito ang wala ang ibang review center—–Si MA’AM ANASKI MARQUEZ (u can search her on her URC site)
    8. Monitored lahat ng students kahit gano pa karami. Kasi they make sure na there is a specific number of RA per section to monitor them.
    9. THey were able to produce 15 board topnotchers just for year 2008
    10. Final Coaching,,intermission number lng ang mga performance pero ang pinakahighlight pa rin is the Ginintuang Bulong.c”,)

  26. GAILA Says:

NCLEX — number 1 ang Universal Review Center

  27. Dianne Peña Says:

@gaila- i know maam anaski marquez, she handled us during our in-house review… magaling nga sya…:]] pati na din c mam tapnio..:]]

  28. GAILA Says:

yup..FEU 2006 ako ng maging prof ko si Mam Tapnio..if ask the students..she’s the best talaga. And she’s exclisively MERGE.c”,) Tas nagMERGE ako..alagang alaga kami don. kasi they control the number of students per section para makapag alot sila ng number ng RA’s per sec. Grabe,,total monitoring and motivation talga. May classmates ako,,talga personal kinakausap ng RA’s namin regarding their performance.
Pag titingnan mo din line-up sa MERGE, the best talaga. Sina Sir Budek and Mam Chutuape. Galing galing.c”,)

  29. katrina_mae Says:

    gaila..

how bout MERGE baguio? are the lecturers the same? yung review program b nila is course, critical, and final coaching ba? kz i enrolled at marlon labagnoy in baguio for the Nov 2009 NLE. may flyer ako ng mERGE pero the review program was not specified pati ung fees to be paid

  30. glam_tramp Says:

actually i came from merge review center and i must say its not that good.
5,000 ung down payment and di ganun kagalingan ang lecturer. halos lahat ng feu na nag merge ay lumipat ng review center at isa ako dun.
i transfered sa PENTAGON and i can say they are the BEST!
I’ve known the capacity of SRG ksi cla ung in house nmin sa feu okay din sila. i would gladly suggest na mag pentagon ka for NLE okay sila as in. you would really memorize and analyze things easily and hilariously. the best si sir mike at sir valdez, sir luansing, sir balisnomo and my favorite sir ANDAMO!=) lahat sila proven with skills , intelligence and experiences unlike other review center, ika nga nila mas maganda sa mas matatag.
by the way penta prouduces many top notcher. madami man kami nung review lahat accomodated at walang dull moment dun they may be not strict as merge do but hinding hindi ka magwawalk-out sa mga lectures nila. nasa student naman yan kung magfofocus ka o hindi inspite of huge or small of number of people. =) every amount paid is so worth it sa pentagon! sayang ang 5,000 ko sa merge!

  31. glam_tramp Says:

pentagon no doubt! =) the best! go!

  32. GAILA Says:

reviewers of merge are the same in all branches. Ung program nila ganito:

    I. COmprehensive Phase – lahat ng lectures babalikan (i think ganito nmn sa laht ng review centers), thats for more than 1 month. In MERGE, hindi rushed ung subjects. Then in every concept may post test. Where in they use scantron sheet in every post test.
II. Critical Phase -1 month din. Dito naman puro exams and rationalization. Ung first 2 hours of the day e exam, then d rest rationalization na.
    III. Preboard
IV. Final Coaching – 6 days. U dont need a 14-day final coaching kc tackeld na un sa compre lyk wat others are doing..ehe..DIto ung mga tips and highlights of the review.

Kaya when we took the exam, syempre we’re not xpecting to see lahat ng nireview nmn e lalabas. But we were confident enough kc me have undergone steps para maenhance rationalization and analysis namin. When you look at it, some review centers have the good reviewers, you can’t really please everybody. PEro sabi nga ni GLAM_TRAMP, nasa student yan, what’s important is the program that will guide you in studying. Hindi lang libangan ang review. You also have to be guided. I have a classmate na twice na nagPENTAGON, hindi pa rin nakapasa, when he transferred to MERGE, he said na MERGE and PENTA have both good reviewers, but the program and the motivation, iba talga sa MERGE.

To those na hindi naman pinalad, everything has a reason.. malay niyo kaya hindi nakapasa dahil magtatop kayo sa november board… hehe… kidding aside, wag na wag kayo mawalan ng pag-asa…

Nga pala, there is this certain review group (hindi siya review center ah) na nagbibigay ng free (as in FREE!!!) review para sa mga taga FEU (hindi ko lang sure kung tatanggap ulit ng taga ibang skuls, kasi nung june ‘09 boards tumanggap sila)… 3-5-100 Review Group ang pangalan niya… para siyang small group discussion na ginawa sa tin nina sir terrence at sir nonog… nag-umpisa siya nung 2008 under the blessing of dean B saka spearheaded ng batch ‘08… last year daw, nagturo dun sina sir jimenez (pentagon) sir valdez (pentagon) at sir nonog (srg)… tapos iniinvite rin ung iba pang reviewers na feu alumni tulad ni mam honey tolentino (narri) saka dean B (nakalimutan ko na review center nia, hehe)…

para sa akin dapat pagnagtake ka dapat wala kang pressure sa utak mo…. be healthy sa lahat ng aspects… give your best shot kasi mhirap maghanap ng review center pero mas mahirap kumita or humingi ng 12,500- 16 k pang review… sa mga supporters mo.. :) believe in yourself and always aim high… :)

Re: Looking for the BEST Nursing Review Center…

Due to insistent public demand regarding my post few months back about the best nursing review center… Here is my sentiment about it…
Everyone’s always wants to have the best, aim for the best and be the best. With that, no matter where you go, no matt…

well for me lahat magagaling, u know why it because alot of tactics and procedure they are doing for the sake of th e student, but then its up to the person if he/she can pass the exam… basta dapat unang una ang prayer, tapus lagyan mo ng mga laman yang utak mo kasi kung empty yan anu maisasagot mo dva?
